Jackie Chan reigns at box office

Ac ctor’s two films in top 10 highest-grossing list

JACKKIE Chan (pic) has become the 20177 king of the box office for the Chinnese film category in Malaysia, withh two films in the top 10 highestgro­sssing list, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Hiis Chinese New Year comedy filmm, Kungfu Yoga, topped the list. Chan’s latest movie, Bleeding SSteel, ranked the third in the list aalthough it is still showing in cinemas nationwide.

It is worth noting that Malaysian Chinese film, The Kid From The Big Apple 2: Before We Forget, ranked number eight in the list.

It was the only local Chinese film in the list.

Directed by Jess Teong, the film was recently nominated for the Best Film category at the 9th Macau Internatio­nal Movie Festival.

There were two Singaporea­n films in the list, namely Ah Boys to Men 4 (No. 4) and The Fortune Handbook (No. 9).

Four out of the 10 movies were Chinese New Year movies or movies screened during Chinese New Year, including Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back (No. 2) and Cook up a storm (No. 10).

> The Royal Malaysian Police will be more stringent when it comes to recruitmen­t.

Candidates must now pass a drug test.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim told China Press that recruits must also have a clean record and pass a fitness test.

Previously, there were candidates who reached the final assessment stage but were rejected because they failed the drug test.

“The police force will not tolerate drug abuse.

“Action will be taken against those involved,” said Noor Rashid.

Since 2010, about 2,000 police officers had been found taking drugs.
