Isa: No press meet as I don’t want to create conflict

-

PORT DICKSON: Former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad will not be holding a press conference on the Jalan Semarak land transfer issue because he “does not want to create a conflict”.

He said he wanted to avoid any misunderstanding and wrong perception on the issue which took place during his tenure as Felda chairman.

“Sure, we can (hold the press conference) but we don’t want to create a conflict,” he said here yesterday.

Isa was talking to reporters after presenting school bags and free haircuts for pupils of SK Intan Perdana here under the “Back to School” programme organised by the Mara Education Foundation and Telok Kemang Umno Youth.

It was reported that Felda was at risk of losing its prime land in Jalan Semarak, estimated to be worth RM270mil, through an allegedly dubious transfer of ownership.

Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad had said a police report was lodged on Dec 12 and a caveat placed on the parcels of land besides the issuance of a cancellation of the power of attorney and civil action against the parties involved.

The land title transfer is believed to have occurred after Felda Investment Corporation appointed a local company as the main developer on June 3, 2014, and awarded it full power of attorney to develop the land.
