Mum: We’ll definitely buy additional unit trust for our baby

JOHOR BARU: Norhabsah Darman’s baby was only due on Thursday, but little Muhammad Harraz Ruzain decided to arrive three days earlier.

And in doing so, he became the centre of attention to more people than just his proud parents.

Norhabsah was among the 10 mothers who gave birth at Hospital Sultanah Aminah on New Year’s Day and received Amanah Dana Anak Malaysia 2050 (ADAM50) from Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) deputy president and chief operating officer (asset management) Datuk Idris Kechot.

Norhabsah, a 28-year-old housewife from Taman Puteri Wangsa, went into labour at the stroke of midnight and her husband rushed her to the hospital.

“Thank God, I gave birth to a 2.5kg baby boy after I was pushed into the labour room at about 1am,” she said.

“My husband and I will definitely buy additional unit trust for our new baby for his education.”

She added that Harraz Ruzain was also the best birthday present for her, as she will be celebrating her birthday on Jan 10.

Another mother, Masitah Othman, 39, was supposed to accompany her seven-year-old daughter on her first day at school.

“I had packed all her books and stationery and ironed her school uniform. Then I felt contractions at midnight and was admitted at around 1am,” she said.

The mother of three – she has another son, age 10, and two daughters, age nine and seven – gave birth to a 2.9kg boy at about 6.30am.

Masitah, a nurse, said she felt bad for being unable to accompany her daughter to school on her first day as she had done for her two older children.

However, she was glad that her husband Ismail Hasnan, 54, was there to take care of them.

Also present at the event were Johor Health Department deputy director (medical) Dr Izam Suleiman and hospital director Dr Aman Rabu.
