Johor CPO urges mobile phone thief to surrender immediately

-

JOHOR BARU: Police are urging the man who stole the mobile phone of a 16-year-old hitand-run victim to come forward and surrender himself immediately.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd warned the suspect that police would catch him sooner or later.

“You better watch out, we are coming after you,” he said.

Comm Mohd Khalil said it was unbecoming and heartless of the man to steal the victim’s phone instead of helping him after he was knocked down by a van.

The victim, Muhammad Haikal Ahmad, a student of SMK Aminuddin Baki, was involved in an accident here at about 1.40pm on Tuesday.

“The 54-year-old driver has surrendered and now we are waiting for the man who stole the victim’s mobile phone,” said Comm Mohd Khalil.

He was speaking to reporters after witnessing the handing over of duties from outgoing Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Azman Ayob to Senior Asst Comm Kamaluddin Kassim, who is former Melaka CID chief.

In an unrelated case, Comm Mohd Khalil said police detained a 33-year-old local man and a Vietnamese woman in Sungai Abong, Muar, at about 2am yesterday and seized 3.161kg of syabu, 1.598kg of ketamine, 5,400 Erimin 5 pills and 2,810 ecstasy pills worth RM517,500 from them.

On the murder case at a petrol station in Jalan Sri Pelangi, Taman Pelangi on Dec 17, Comm Mohd Khalil said police were wrapping up the case and would forward the investigation papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s office soon.
