DPM: M’sia happy to help with deradicalisation efforts
PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia is more than happy to share its deradicalisation efforts with the global community, especially with countries facing terror threats, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said Malaysia’s experience could be put to good use.
“Our deradicalisation programme has a success rate of 97%.
“We want to offer what we have to the world,” he told reporters at the end of the Putrajaya International Security Dialogue.
Dr Ahmad Zahid said Malaysia together with Muslim World League also want to work alongside other Islamic countries to fight Islamophobia.
“We want the world to know what Islam truly is and not what it is perceived to be,” he said.
Muslim World League is a Saudi Arabia-based NGO that propagates Islamic teachings.
Its secretary- general Dr Muhammad Abdul Kareem Al-Issa said he was impressed with Malaysia’s efforts to counter terror and extremism.
“The Muslim World League is also heartened by the efforts to spread and promote moderation.
“We hope with many people embracing this concept, there will be peace in the world,” Dr Muhammad Abdul Kareem said.
We want the world to know what Islam truly is and not what it is perceived to be.
