Many leave fair well armed for further studies

KUALA LUMPUR: Disability did not stop Wang Siew Ming, 45, from coming to the fair to look for the best A-Levels course for his daughter.

“My daughter Sally has just finished her SPM examinations and intends to pursue law,” he said.

“She is interested in applying for the Star Education Fund scholarship,” he said, adding that it would help disabled parents fund their children’s education.

Structured and information aplenty, that’s how school leaver Roobin Yogaretnam described the Star Education Fair 2018.

The youngster, who plans to further his studies in Ireland after completing his A-Levels, attended Education in Ireland manager Terry McParland’s talk.

“His talk was very good and it has given me clarity on how to go about applying to universities there.

“This is my first time attending this fair and just by walking around, I’ve gathered enough information that can direct me in the right path after my A-Levels,” he added.

Travelling from Setapak, Cheng Yu Chiet and his daughter Darlene, 15, found the Star Education Fair 2018 to be very helpful.

“It is good that counsellors are present at the booths to explain and pass information to parents and children,” he added.

Cheng said having career talks are especially helpful to students as it raises their awareness on the various options available to them.

There should be more talks like these as it helps students to figure out their direction, he added.
