Chef Wan to prepare you for a career in culinary arts

KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrity chef Datuk Redzuawan Ismail, better known as Chef Wan, popped by the Star Education Fair 2018 for a surprise visit on his 60th birthday yesterday.

“I like to mingle and meet new people,” said the friendly chef, who was speaking and taking pictures with his fans.

Chef Wan, who has over 27 years experience as a chef as well as a TV personality, will provide tips on what it takes to build a career in the culinary arts and how to turn cooking into a successful career during his talk “How To Be A Global Chef Cum Celebrity Chef” from 2pm to 2.30pm at the fair today. His talk will be held in Hall One at the KL Convention Centre.

He will be sharing the stage with Sunway Le Cordon Bleu general manager Ming Rathswohl Ho.

Meanwhile, SEGi University Early Childhood Education department head Carolyn Choo said school-leavers should not take choosing their future study choices lightly.

“After your SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia), you will need to make some serious and heavy choices,” she told a packed hall during her talk on “What’s next after SPM”.

She said some will choose their courses based on what they excel at in school. “But sometimes, what you’re good at might not be something you like.”

She advised school-leavers to pick a course they will enjoy.

First time exhibitor Think Poland received a positive reception from visitors at the Star Education Fair 2018.

Its vice president Marcin Uminski said they want to increase the visi- tors’ knowledge of Poland.

“There are a handful of Malaysian students studying different courses in Poland but we feel the awareness of the country and the opportunities it offers is not sufficient in Malaysia.

“The cost of tuition fees is affordable and the courses are taught in English,” he said, explaining some of the benefits to studying in the country.
