‘M’sia has no room for politics of hatred’
PEKAN: There is no room for politics of hatred in this country, says Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The Prime Minister said what the people want was a Government that protected their rights and welfare and looked after the interests of the nation.
“We do not need a leader who sows hatred and uses offensive words, badmouths and hurl insults at others. This does not reflect good values and noble norms.
“From Perlis to Sabah, the country is being transformed under the Barisan Nasional Government. This is what we want and need,” he said before presenting school items to poor students here yesterday.
Najib said the people’s welfare, the economy, investments, public transportation, championing Islam, infrastructure and security were all being improved by the Government in the interests of the people and country.
“We do not want to be known as a party which is good at making empty promises.
“As the Government, we will fulfil our promises and do what is achievable for the people’s welfare,” he said, citing the abolishment of toll collection at four toll plazas and the implementation of the Amanah Dana Anak Malaysia 2050 savings scheme, starting this year.
“Soon, we will be giving out aid to fishermen, smallholders and recipients of Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia,” he added.
At the event, some 2,000 students in the constituency received school items worth RM180 each to lessen their burden in going back to school.
Also present was Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.
On the floods situation, he said it was getting better and that all affected victims could return home soon. He also praised all personnel from various agencies who have assisted in flood relief efforts.
Most victims in Pahang have already returned home after floodwaters receded across the four affected districts.
As at 3pm yesterday, only 14 relief centres were still open in Kuantan, Maran, Pekan and Bera, providing shelter to 670 victims.
