Suicide is not something to laugh about

-

MANY people think that depression and anxiety are just phases in life that one goes through. The truth is, if you have never experienced suicidal thoughts, you will never know how it feels to want to kill yourself at any time.

Before you tease a person who is always happy and laughs at jokes all the time, take note that suicidal thoughts tend to strike when one is at their happiest.

Currently, more and more people are feeling overwhelmed by the stress they receive at school, work, or from an individual.

Sadly, people are joking in text messages about “KMS (killing myself )” just because they can’t finish their work or they feel awkward, or texting others whom they don’t like to “KYS (kill yourself )”.

Receiving the KYS message makes you feel that no one wants you in this world anymore.

The current case of YouTube blogger Logan Paul is an example of the generally callous attitude of people towards suicide. In a recent post, Paul was seen laughing and joking in front of a hanging suicide victim at Aokigahara Forest, a site at the base of Mount Fuji, Japan that is popular for taking one’s life. The episode shows that some people think suicide is funny.

I have had suicidal thoughts myself, and the pain and sadness I experienced were so intense I couldn’t even go to school for a few months. I wanted to kill myself several times because I was being bullied and some friends had jokingly told me to kill myself. It will remain a joke to them until they experience it themselves.
