KLUANG: The Defence Ministry (Mindef ) will look after and strengthen the education needs of children of armed forces, veterans and ministry staff, says Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

The Defence Minister said Mindef Education Blueprint Agenda 20182022 would propel a new paradigm of education for the ministry and the armed forces.

“We are proud of this blueprint as it would provide better accessibility to quality education over the long-term. This is a historic moment for Mindef and the armed forces as a whole as it has never been done before.

“It shows our commitment to all personnel and their families by honouring our words,” he said during the launching ceremony at the Royal Malay Regiment 5th battalion camp here yesterday.

Hishammuddin said the blueprint was drafted since early last year and fine-tuned before making it into a reality.

“This blueprint is based on several objectives such as giving recognition to the armed forces, veterans and Mindef staff, stepping up education services through education welfare and upgrading of education facilities,” he said.

Hishammuddin said about 38 schools located inside army camps throughout the country would be renovated while nine primary schools would be upgraded to performance schools.

The schools are SK TUDM Subang in Selangor, SK Kementah in Kuala Lumpur, SK Angkatan Tentera Jalan Ru in Johor Baru, SJK (T) Kem Askar Melayu Diraja in Negri Sembilan, SK Pangkalan Tentera Kem Batu 10 in Pahang, SK Sultan Sir Ibrahim, SK Kem Iskandar and SK Tanjung Pengelih in Johor and SK Pangkalan TLDM Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.
