Woman helps children cope with cancer in memory of daughter

-

IT is never easy to lose a child but for Nor Hashimah Abu Hassan, helping children with cancer is a way to cope with life after losing her daughter to the disease.

Nor Hashimah’s eldest daughter Qysstina Syafieka Erman Shah lost her four-year battle with leukaemia in 2014, reported Harian Metro. She was seven.

Her death spurred Nor Hashimah, 32, to take up charity work and help families with children suffering from the same disease.

“I have gone through raising a child with leukaemia, and of needing financial resources and the strength to face the situation.

“After I lost my daughter, I felt it was time to help others,” she said.

She used the balance of her daughter’s funds to help families with child cancer patients, whom she also visits regularly.

“After my daughter died, I took down the contact details of the other parents whose children were or newly admitted to the same ward and started a Whatsapp group to share experiences,” she said.

The 33-year-old actress, who has been in the industry for 16 years, also started up her own production house called FS Creative Sdn Bhd two months ago.

Fasha admits she initially did not have any plans to become a producer but changed her mind after getting encouragement from her loved ones.

“I am looking to plan for my future. I am even willing to use my savings to ensure everything goes well,” she said.
