KUALA LUMPUR: Jacky Cheung fans have been flooding Star Planet’s office with phone calls.

This followed the front-page article by The Star yesterday, which stated that those who had bought tickets to the Malaysian leg of Cheung’s A Classic Tour from unauthorised channels could be barred from the venue.

“Our phones have been ringing non-stop since the office opened at 10am, with callers asking to check the validity of their tickets to the concerts,” said a Star Planet staff member manning the hotline.

The representative also stated that the validity could only be ascertained by scanning the barcode printed on the tickets, and that would be done at the show venue, Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil.

The sell-out concert, originally set for Jan 26 and 27, was extended one more day to cater to the overwhelming response to the Hong Kong superstar’s shows.

“Each barcode can only be scanned once and our ticketing system ensures that there will be no duplicates,” said Star Planet chief operating officer Carmen Liew.

She also urged fans who had obtained their tickets through Star Planet’s website and its authorised ticket seller MyTicket Asia, as well as those who got them during the ticket launch at Quill City Mall here, not to worry.

“Our practice to void tickets is only part of our efforts to put a stop to scammers and scalpers who take advantage of eager fans.

“We want to encourage ticket buyers to only go through the official channels and not fall victim to any scam,” she added.

Star Planet, on its official Facebook page, also announced that the RM50 children’s tickets (children below 95cm without a seat) are sold out.

The doors to the stadium will tentatively open at 6pm on the concert days and ticket holders are advised to go to the venue early to allow for ample time to sort out any issues arising. The shows are scheduled to start at 8pm for the three days.
