St John’s alumni hosts bbq

THE St John’s Alumni Association (SJAA) will be organising a Johannian BBQ Homecoming Party next Saturday in its effort to strengthen the brotherhood and camaraderie spirit amongst its alumni members.

The event which will take place at the school concourse, is in its fourth year and this year’s edition will be slightly different from the previous ones.

According to the SJAA president Isham Ishak, this year’s event will include the launching of the SJI Cadet Corp Alumni Photobook in conjunction with its 100th year establishment, handover of SJI sports teams’ sponsorship and the emphasis of SJAA Cares initiatives in the association’s activities.

Isham also expressed his delight that the number of SJI alumni members confirming their attendance for the event has surpassed its initial expectation.

“Happy to note that former students from the batch of 1965 right until the batch of 2009 will be present.

“Our initial target was to have 100 members for this event.

“However, due to the overwhelming response, the number has now shot up to the 250 members and it’s expected to rise even further in the coming days,” he added.

On another development, Isham expressed hope that former students of SJI will continue to give their support to SJAA in realising its agenda.

The support and their involvement, stressed Isham, is vital in ensuring that all agenda implemented will meet its objectives to serve the best interest of the alumni and SJI.

“Regardless of who you are and your background, each and everyone of you can play a part and contribute in different ways.

“This is what we want to inculcate,” said Isham.

The Johannian BBQ Homecoming Party will be held from 11am until 2pm on Feb 10.
