PAS to take on 130 parliamentary and state seats

-

KEPALA BATAS: PAS, which is going into the general election without Pakatan Harapan, will be contesting in 130 parliamentary and state seats.

Party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (pic) said all its candidates for the elections had been selected.

The party, he said, would be collaborating with nongovernmental groups and forming a coalition called Sejahtera.

Earlier, Abdul Hadi was reported by an online portal as saying that there would be two Cabinets should PAS come into power.

“If PAS rules, it will be divided into two – (one) a Cabinet that decides on national policies.

“This must consist of people who adopt the national ideology and faith.

“This Cabinet will then appoint an executive Cabinet to carry out policies and its members can be nonMuslims appointed based on their expertise,” he said during a dialogue with Indian groups here yesterday.

On another matter, the sole PAS assemblyman in Penang will not be contesting in the polls.

Penang PAS commissioner Mohd Fauzi Yusoff said the party leadership had decided not to field Datuk Mohd Salleh Man, adding that the Penanti state seat would be given to a “new face”.

“This is based on our agenda to raise the voice of Muslims in the state assembly.

“The task will be handed down to new faces,” he told reporters.
