Prioritise human lives over objects

- DAENG NORMA Kuala Lumpur

I WOULD like to add further to Nirmala Raghavan’s letter “Heads must roll for teenager’s suicide” ( The Star, Feb 2).

The teacher involved should give up her teaching career if she does not have any love for children. Her actions indicate that she is a coward because she was actually bullying a child. Adults should have confrontations with people of their own size, not abuse children mentally and emotionally.

When children are in school, they are in the care of the teachers. So teachers must have empathy and care for the children. They must take heed of the child’s needs, follow up issues attentively and investigate any serious matter instead of being biased, judgemental and jumping to the wrong conclusion.

To the teachers involved, you are teachers so where were your brains? They were obviously somewhere else!

What was even more shameful and disgusting was the dead girl’s generosity and thought for the teacher’s birthday. How could the teacher even dare to accuse the girl especially when she denied the charge so many times!

The teacher involved and her husband seem to value material things more than a human life and are heartless and have no sympathy for helpless children like M. Vasantha Piriya. There are no two ways about this. Those involved must be punished!
