Cops: ‘Boyfriend’ angry over spurned marriage proposal

-

Wedding proposal turns to murder in victim’s car as she wanted to wed someone else.

PETALING JAYA: The incident in which a woman was stabbed to death in her car took place because she refused to marry her attacker, police revealed.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said, unable to accept the rejection, the man stabbed D. Tharani (pic) in the neck.

“The victim wanted to marry someone else,’’ he said yesterday.

ACP Mohd Zani said the suspect, 37, worked in the same building where Tharani, also 37, was employed.

“We have remanded the suspect for a week pending investigations,” he said.

The suspect had driven to the Damansara police station at about 3pm on Monday to confess his act – with the woman’s body still in the front seat.

The man and the victim were in the car, parked at a shopping mall in Kota Damansara, when he allegedly stabbed her to death at about 1.30pm.

Police found a sharp object inside the car.

The woman worked as a clerk in a condominium in the area.

She was said to have been in a relationship with the suspect for about two years.

However, relatives who turned up at the University Malaya Medical Centre’s pathology department claimed that Tharani had no boyfriend and that they had not even heard of the suspect.

A witness at the police station said the suspect was clad in a black uniform, complete with a name tag, when he came in.
