PETALING JAYA: Suria FM

– the Malay language private radio station of the Star Media Radio Group – has a new recruit in Sharifah Shahirah (pic).

Sharifah’s voice will be heard over the Suria Pagi segment as a presenter.

The popular actress-television host will be joining existing presenters Zulin Aziz and Fizi Ali for the morning segment, airing weekdays from 5am to 10am.

“When I got the offer to join Suria, I said ‘yes’ right away. I couldn’t think of any reason to hesitate.

“I’m very honoured to join the Suria family,” she said.

Sharifah, 43, who is now in her first week at Suria, said she looks forward to making listeners “feel good” whenever they tune in to 105.3FM in the Klang Valley.

“Fizi, Zulin and I are still mapping out the show’s overall direction.

“For now, we will make our listeners laugh and have fun when they are tuned in to Suria Pagi,” she said.

Suria programming manager Roslinda Abd Majid is positive that Sharifah will bring a lot of joy to listeners.

“She has a strong presence in the entertainment industry. I believe her wealth of experience, credibility, charm and humour will help to strengthen Suria as the preferred entertainment platform for our listeners,” she said.

Sharifah’s appointment as Suria’s new morning show presenter is a homecoming of sorts for her.

Back in 2010, she presented Suria’s morning show segment with Halim Othman for one year.

Since joining the entertainment industry in 1994, Kuala Lumpur-born Sharifah has made a name for herself as a comedic actress.

She has received the Anugerah Seri Angkasa award for Best Comedic Actress through her role in the sitcom Ada Ada Aje in 2005.

She was also a four-time Anugerah Bintang Popular nominee for Popular Comedic Actress.
