MB: Pakatan meeting today to discuss seats
SHAH ALAM: A Pakatan Harapan meeting over the allocation of seats to be contested in Selangor will be held today.
Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said the closed-door meeting would be held “somewhere in Selangor”.
“All (Pakatan) parties have been notified to send their representatives to the meeting,” he said.
“They have the right to put forth their thoughts, and from there, we will discuss the way forward.
“I hope all parties will reach an agreement,” he said after opening the fourth annual general meeting of Pahlawan – a retired security forces personnel group in Seksyen 7 here yesterday.
Azmin, who is state Pakatan chairman, said the discussions might involve “seat swaps or crossstate seat exchanges”.
PKR politicians expected at the meeting are Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin, Sri Andalas assemblyman Dr Xavier Jeyakumar, Subang MP Sivarasa Rasiah and Petaling Jaya Selatan MP Hee Loy Sian.
On Monday, Selangor PKR Wanita chief Haniza Talha was reported to have said that the party was ready to give up its seats to other Pakatan allies to gain a higher margin of victory.
Asked to comment on Haniza’s statement, Azmin said the matter had not be finalised.
“Everything is still being discussed,” he said. “All these need to be done behind closed-doors and a consensus reached.”
