Zahid: RoS probing complaints filed by Pribumi members

-

The Registrar of Societies is investigating 47 complaints submitted by members of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia who claimed that the party’s constitution was breached when conducting its annual general meeting, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the complaints were among 249 which RoS had received, all made by Pribumi members themselves.

They are not to be blamed if members are unhappy that the leadership did not follow the p party constitution. Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi

“The RoS is doing their job professionally and have no interest in any political party. We should let them do their job instead of accusing the RoS of being slow and ignorant,” he told reporters after chairing a meeting to look into traffic congestion at the Causeway.

Dr Ahmad Zahid was asked to comment on claims by Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that RoS is delaying the Opposition pact’s application to be formalised.

PPBM, which part of the Pakatan Opposition coalition that includes DAP, PKR and Parti Amanah Negara, held its annual general assembly last December.

“As former leader of the government, this individual should know the law because it is the same set of laws that we are using now. RoS has the responsibility to look into alle- gations of breach in party constitution.

“They are not to be blamed if members are unhappy that the leadership did not follow the party constitution, the very same constitution which they themselves determined,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.

He said the RoS has cleared DAP’s central executive committee re-election and a letter was sent to the party on Monday to inform them of the matter, adding the letter stated that the re-election held on Nov 12 last year complied with requirements set by the RoS.

On Feb 3, RoS said in a statement it agreed that the full report of the re-election be kept by the interna- tional audit firm appointed by DAP – Grant Thornton – for a period of time as required by the party’s constitution.

Grant Thornton had submitted a full report of the CEC re-election through a letter dated Nov 27, 2017.

The DAP held its congress on Nov 12 last year to elect a new CEC, after its 2013 list was rejected by the RoS.
