Felda ordered to take legal action over KLVC project
KUALA LUMPUR: Felda has been directed to take disciplinary and legal action against those named in the forensic audit report on the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project, the Prime Minister’s Department said.
The report, which has been presented to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, also calls for action against those who were negligent in carrying out their duties, misrepresented facts and failed to protect the interests of Felda and its investment wing, Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FICSB).
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Department, Najib had agreed to set up a domestic enquiry committee to take action on the recommendations and proposals made in the forensic audit report.
He also agreed to establish a consultative committee to review the agreement between FICSB with Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd and Synergy Promenade Kuala Lumpur Vertical City Sdn Bhd.
The consultative committee will comprise Datuk Dr Yusof Ismail from the Finance Ministry; Economic Planning Unit director-general Datuk Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid; Felda general manager Datuk Ab Ghani Mohd Ali; deputy secretary-general at the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Zainal Abidin Abu Hassan; and Public Private Partnership Unit director-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hussain.
“The Prime Minister’s Department has examined, agreed with and accepted the audit report.
“On the whole, the audit report has fulfilled the stipulated auditing objectives and the Government is satisfied with the audit team’s report,” the statement read.
The audit on Jan 4 encompassed the entire process, beginning from the suggestion to build KLVC and its implementation, up to the Felda land title transfer issue.
A total of 240 documents at the Felda and FICSB offices, as well as the Federal Territory Land and Mines Office and Kuala Lumpur City Hall, were involved in the audit.
The audit team also interviewed officers at the affected agencies.
The final report was submitted to the Prime Minister’s Department on Feb 2 and was then tabled to Najib, as the minister responsible for Felda, on Feb 5.
