MUAR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took his campaign to Pagoh, the constituency of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, calling all Barisan members to defend the state.

The Prime Minister said the state was Barisan Nasional’s bastion and all efforts must be made to keep its status.

Saying he was half Johorean, as his mother Tun Rahah Mohammad Noah was born in Muar, Najib vowed not to allow the state to fall to the Opposition.

He said Barisan’s election machinery should not be complacent or think some seats are safe and within their clutches.

“We have to work and be prepared until the general election is announced,” he said during a meet the people session in Bukit Mor here.

Najib also urged Johoreans to continue supporting Barisan if they wanted progress and to prosper.

“I’m sending a strong signal not only to Johoreans but also Malaysians in other states,” he said.

He also said Barisan had delivered 97.6% of its GE13 election pledges adding “I’m not sure whether the Opposition is able to match our track record in serving the people”.

Separately Najib said RM100mil has been allocated to brighten up villages in the country under an initiative by the Rural and Regional Development Ministry.

He said the Government and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has each allocated RM50mil to install 50,000 LED street lights which will benefit 2.5 million villagers.

“We want all villages to be lighted up hopefully to welcome Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year,” he said.

Separately at Felda Maokil, Najib said the Government continued to take care of the people in Pagoh although the constituency was not represented by a Barisan MP.

He pointed out that Pertubuhan Peladang Negeri Johor has been selling to locals in Pagoh three chickens for RM16 and they were fortunate to get the birds three times a month.

Najib said if Malaysia was bankrupt as claimed by the Opposition, the Government would never be able to offer this.

“Tell me, which countries in the world are able to offers three birds at RM16, only Malaysia can do it,” he said to thunderous applause from some 5,000 guests.

Najib added he had faith in voters here who would ensure the Pagoh seat is won by Barisan in the general election.

Meanwhile on his blog, Najib advised the people against spoiling their votes during the election.

He said voters should not be influenced by the movement which suggested the move because they felt both the Government and Opposition had failed help the people.

Najib acknowledged there were weaknesses on both sides but pointed out voters could make a choice between the present government and the opposition by evaluating the development that had been implemented.
