Tee Yong to defend Labis parliament­ary seat

LABIS: MCA vice-president Datuk Chua Tee Yong’s good track record in serving the people of Labis will see him defending the parliament­ary seat here this coming general election.

MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai announced that Chua and his division deputy chief Tan Chong would be contesting in the Labis parliament­ary and Bekok state seats respective­ly.

“Chua has been serving well here, has a good track record and very focused on boosting the develop- ment in Labis,” Liow told reporters after having dinner with the local community at SJK(C) Chaah here on Thursday night.

“Within the party we have identified him together with Tan, although he lost the (Bekok) state seat in the last election, he has still been serving the people well.

“So, we would like to recommend them to contest in the next general election,” added Liow.

In an earlier briefing, he had also advised the Labis division grassroots leaders on areas for improvemen­t to further strengthen the party’s position here.

“I am happy with their preparatio­n and we promise the people in Labis that we will serve them and develop the area.

“We have an agenda of transforma­tion for them and we know the vision and mission that needs to be accomplish­ed for them,” he said, adding that party was confident of retaining Labis and winning back Bekok.

Chua, who is also Deputy Internatio­nal Trade and Industry Minister, has been helming the Labis parliament­ary seat for two terms since 2008.

Liow also said that the next five years would be crucial for the nation’s developmen­t, urging the people to support Barisan Nasional to ensure the transforma­tion agenda is seen through.
