PETALING JAYA: With the anticipated increase of passengers, airport authorities will be placing more resources at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to ensure everything runs smoothly for travellers during the Chinese New Year festive season.

“We are expecting an increase of nearly 40%, which is around 180,000 daily passenger passing through both terminals from Feb 14 to 18.

“To accommodate the surge, we will be placing more resources on the ground.

“Other agencies and the police have also given their commitment,” said KLIA operations head Mohd Arif Jaafar yesterday.

He said there will be strict police enforcement of a two-mi- nute limit for pick up to ensure traffic flows smoothly at the kerbside.

“Installation of bollards at pickup lanes will also prevent unauthorised parking and ease traffic congestion,” Mohd Arif said.

He said during peak periods about 55 vehicles per minute will pass through the terminal.

“Security patrols will also be increased during this time,” he added.

KLIA head of police ACP Zulkifli Adamshah also reminded passengers to be mindful of road safety when travelling.

“Convenient and affordable parking facilities such as the 30-minute free parking at the 5,000-bay long term car park are also available,” he said.
