It’s end of the road for Nicholas in World Super 6

-

PETALING JAYA: Nicholas Fung’s challenge in the World Super 6 Perth in Australia has ended.

The 27-year-old fell short in his bid to reach the last 24 match-play stage after he could only finish tied 33rd at the Lake Karrinyup Country Club yesterday.

Nicholas closed with a two-under 70 to finish the 54-hole stroke play round on a three-under 213 total, just two shots off the top 24 cut.

Still, it was his best outing in Perth having missed the cut in his last two appearances.

It was also his best finish after four tournaments this season.

Nicholas, who won the Queen’s Cup for his maiden Asian Tour title in June last year, has yet to impress after three Asian Tour stops this season.

He missed the cut at the Myanmar Open and could only tie for 56th at last month’s Singapore Open and finished joint 74th at the Maybank Championship last week.

“Although I missed the cut by a whisker, I feel satisfied this week,” said Nicholas.

“There’re a lot of positives to take away from this tournament, my putting in particular. I saved many (pars) from it. My mental game has also improved.

“But after playing five tournaments in a row (including the EurAsia Cup), I just want to forget golf and enjoy my Chinese New Year break.”
