Reject the ‘destructive’ Opposition, Zahid tells Malaysians

-

LABIS: The people should reject the Opposition as it is out to destroy Malaysia’s rapid growth, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Deputy Prime Minister said in other countries, Opposition leaders were constructive and able to work handinhand with the ruling government to pave the way for development.

“The Opposition is different in Malaysia as their leaders are destructive and would reject development programmes meant for the rakyat.

“Goodness must be repaid with goodness while hatred must be rejected,” he said in his speech before launching the redevelopment of a federal road between Jalan Yong PengSegamat in Taman Tenang Jaya here yesterday.

Dr Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Home Minister, said Johor was among several states that the Opposition was eyeing in the coming general election.

He said under the leadership of Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, he was confident that Johor would continue to be a Barisan Nasional fortress.

Dr Ahmad Zahid stressed that Barisan’s elected representatives must double their efforts to win the hearts and minds of voters and serve the people well.

“Do not be like certain leaders, who only show up when the election season is near.

“We must stand together and unite as one team because the Opposition has been making inroads in Johor based on the results of the last two elections,” he said.

Dr Ahmad Zahid said Barisan would bank on local candidates and those that have the potential to win.

“It is important for us to wrest back the seats which were lost and increase our majority,” he said.

On another matter, Dr Ahmad Zahid said the Federal Government had allocated RM29.43bil under the 11th Malaysian Plan to fund 365 development projects in Johor.

He said 16 out of the 365 projects involved building and upgrading roads and bridges.
