Sathia: Challenge now is to maintain winning momentum

-

PETALING JAYA: Felda United coach B. Sathianathan is pleased that his team are clicking well after chalking up their third win on the trot.

The Fighters flexed their muscles when they whipped Penang 3-0 in their Premier League clash at the Tun Abdul Razak Stadium in Jengka on Monday.

They had earlier beaten UKM 2-1 and Police 6-2.

The club side raced ahead with a brace from Gilberto Fortunato (12th and 20th min- utes) before D. Christie Jayaseelan’s strike (85th) gave them the full points.

Sathianathan said he was happy with his players’ performance and the challenge was to maintain the winning momentum throughout the season.

“The combination of the old and new players is great. This factor is the key to Felda enjoying a good run so far,” said the former national team coach.

“Our plan was to get an early goal, Gilberto and Wan Zack (Haikal Wan Nor) did well to pressure the opponents’ defence from the start of the game.

“Our skipper Shukor (Adan) also did well to organise our defence to prevent Penang from scoring.”

He added that his injured striker Thiago Fernandes, who played in the final 10 minutes of the match, needed more time to recover.

“I hope Fernandes will recover soon. I gave him a chance to play to see his fitness level but he still needed more time to recover.”
