A selfless nation is a fair nation, says Najib

PEKAN: Sharing and caring is the way to a peaceful and harmonious nation, the Prime Minister said.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Malaysians must be able to share political power and embrace all races to become a united nation.

“We must not desire to accumulate all political power for ourselves but share it like what we practise in Barisan Nasional, where we embrace Malaysia as a multiracial country and have close communication with one another.

“When we share power and wealth, we become a nation that is fair,” he told a crowd of about 3,000 during his Kongsi Kasih visit in conjunction with the Chinese New Year at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Convention Hall here.

Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor handed out ang pow and boxes of goodies to the people.

He added that the country was not sharing burdens and suffering but wealth and success with its people.

“We also share our celebrations and holidays. Together, we share and celebrate Hari Raya, Christmas, Deepavali and Chinese New Year,” he said.

Najib also pointed out that the recent announcement that Malaysia experienced 5.9% GDP growth in the last quarter of 2017 was proof that the country could share its wealth and success with the people.

“You also have the IMF (International Monetary Fund), World Economic Forum and Bloomberg saying that Malaysia is on the way to doing much better,” he added.

“These are the words of world economic bodies and experts who say the country’s economy is well managed.

“With this, the wealth of the country can be shared with the people.

“Those who say that the country is bankrupt are lying,” Najib said.
