GEORGE TOWN: Nineteen people have been interviewed in connection with the murder investigation of Indonesian maid Adelina Lisao (pic).

They included doctors who treated her and neighbours of the home where Adelina allegedly slept in the porch with a Rottweiler.

Penang police chief Comm Datuk A. Thaiveegan said the investigation was almost completed.

“We are waiting for the post-mortem report before wrapping up and submitting the papers to the deputy public prosecutor,” he said yesterday.

Comm Thaiveegan said police investigated the 60-year-old mother, 36-year-old daughter, and the 39-year-old son who were remanded over Adelina’s death.

“They have no prior criminal record,” he said after launching the Computerised Patrolling System at the Light Collection III off Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway yesterday.

Adelina’s remains are expected to be flown back to Indonesia today.

Indonesia’s deputy consul-general in Penang Osrinikita Zubhana said Adelina’s body would be received by her parents in Nusa Tenggara Timur.

She said they did not have any official documents concerning her employment, saying “her recruitment was done without endorsement”.

The 21-year-old died at the Bukit Mertajam Hospital on Sunday after being rescued from the house a day earlier.

Her ordeal became known after neighbours saw her sleeping in the porch every night with the family dog.

It was reported yesterday that the two siblings were remanded for an extra seven days for murder probe under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said that her country wanted justice for Adelina.
