Mustapa: Opposition speaking ‘with a forked tongue’
KOTA BARU: International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed (pic) has hit out at the Opposition for speaking “with a forked tongue” on Malaysia-China relations.
He accused its leaders of trying to confuse and stir hatred among the people by saying that the Government was selling the country’s sovereignty to China.
“This is not true. The Selangor and Penang governments also went to China to promote their investments,” he said.
“Their leaders speak with a forked tongue, saying one thing but meaning something else,” he said after witnessing the signing of an MoU between CIDB MyIBS Sdn Bhd (CIDB) and the Kelantan Housing Contractors Association (PKPK) here yesterday.
On Saturday, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the Government would not allow any attempt to undermine Malaysia’s strong ties with China.
The Prime Minister said the Opposition was trying to instil hatred towards the Barisan Nasional government by twisting the facts.
Meanwhile, Works Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Zohari Akob said the CIDB MyIBS and PKPK partnership showed the Government’s commitment to promote the latest technology in the construction industry.
He said technology such as IBS was key to transforming the entire construction value chain.
“The partnership we are forming will benefit the SMEs, which form the backbone of the economy,” said Zohari.
CIDB myIBS will provide technical advice and capacity-building programmes to PKPK members to facilitate the adoption of modern construction technology, he said.
CIDB has allocated RM500,000 for development programmes under the MoU.
