IPOH: Tambun MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah is ready to give his all should he be named as the candidate for the seat.

Speaking to reporters after attending a Chinese New Year open house here, Ahmad Husni said he would work to bring victory for Barisan Nasional in the general election.

“When it’s near the election, we don’t think individually. We only think of victory for Barisan. “We need to work towards it. “The question of who would be a candidate – that’s up to the president.

“But if the president were to call upon me, I am ready and willing to go all out to ensure victory,” he added.

In 2016, Ahmad Husni shocked the country when he resigned as the Second Finance Minister and from all posts in Umno.

Asked whether he still had the support of his division, Ahmad Husni said he believed he did.

“I don’t believe that having been the division chief for 23 years, everyone will start to boycott me.

“But whoever the candidate may be, this division’s members will go all out to support him,” he said.

“We want to win big, to be loyal to the party and to the president’s decision. Tambun needs to contribute one seat at the Federal level,” he added.

Ahmad Husni said a candidate needed to be devoted to the people to get their support.

“We need to work for the people. We need to work for this country,” he said.
