Association wants world heritage status for lion dance

THE Kun Seng Keng Lion and Dragon Dance Association in Muar wants Unesco Intangible Cultural Heritage recognition for its high pole lion dance, Oriental Daily reported.

Association chairman Lee Yong Pin submitted the application form to Malaysia’s National Heritage Department.

The application was proposed by the Han Culture Centre Malaysia with the support of the department.

The Government acknowledged the high pole lion dance as national heritage in 2007.

It is learnt that Yung has been busy taking care of her sickly mother while Lau is busy preparing for his upcoming concert.

Many felt Yung and Lau were a poor match because of the disparity in their career achievements.

Yung has been a regular winner at Hong Kong’s major music awards since her debut in 1999, while Lau is seen as being less popular.

Shi Ming Hai also suggested total elimination of the industry by 2035.

It is seen by activists as a cruel system designed to extract bile from the gall bladders of living bears.
