‘I am not a coward, ninja or assassin’

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong says it is ironic that he has been tagged a coward when it is Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng who refuses to debate him on the Penang undersea tunnel project.

“He is the one who refuses to accept to debate with me on the tunnel and I am a coward?” asked the MCA deputy president.

He said the public would not be able to distinguish fact from fiction if Lim did not debate him to clarify the matter.

He said Lim should be brave even though his father, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, had labelled him (Dr Wee) a “ninja assassin”.

“I can assure Guan Eng that I have never received any training in my life to be either a ninja or an assassin.

“How do I seek the truth when the Chief Minister refuses to debate me in public so that both of us can help the public separate truth from lies?” Dr Wee said in a statement yesterday.

He was responding to Lim who earlier urged Dr Wee to stop his “cowardly lies” and seek the truth instead.

Lim also accused Dr Wee of trying to sabotage the mega project for political benefit at the expense of Penangites.

“Top Barisan Nasional leaders can easily escape traffic jams in Penang by calling in helicopters, an option not available to both the Penang Chief Minister and ordinary motorists.

“What then is the alternative for ordinary Penangites?” Lim asked yesterday.

Lim reiterated his denial of corruption in the undersea tunnel project, saying the payment to contractors was decided by an independent checking engineer through open tender by the state government.

I can assure Guan Eng that I have never received any training in my life to be either a ninja or an assassin.
