Dimsum likely to work with China organisation
PETALING JAYA: Star Media Group’s video-on-demand service dimsum may see a collaboration with China’s media regulatory body in future, said dimsum chief marketing officer Lam Swee Kim.
Speaking after meeting representatives from China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT) at Menara Star here yesterday, Kim noted that dimsum has been collaborating with many Chinese broadcasters.
“This time around, it’s with the state administration office itself, which is even better because we can now deal with multiple parties following this meeting,” she said.
Lam said the meeting will not just benefit dimsum but Star Media Group as a whole because “there are many options we can look into”.
“We are also looking to be part of a community where we will either start sharing or collaborating on the production of entertainment and video content as well as news,” she added.
Earlier, four top officials of SAPPRFT, led by its deputy director-general Zhou Jihong, were warmly welcomed by Star Media Group chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow, Lam and The Star executive editor Esther Ng.
Discussions were held with the visitors after dimsum content assistant manager Angie Ng gave a presentation on the history of Star Media Group.
