Cops arrest 14 involved in Macau Scam

THE Commercial Crime Investigat­ion Department has arrested 14 men involved in a Macau Scam, China Press reported.

Those arrested, aged from 16 to 36, have reportedly been active for a year in Melaka, Johor, Penang, Negri Sembilan, Perlis, Kedah, Perak and the Klang Valley.

Police began investigat­ing after a 54- year- old woman lodged a report on March 13 that she was scammed of RM40,000.

The police raided five apartments in Bukit Jalil, Happy Garden and Puchong Jaya and seized 899 units of communicat­ion equipment as well as scripts in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

The case is being investigat­ed under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

> Popular Hong Kong actor Louis Koo finally won his first Best Actor award after 25 years in the industry at the recent 12th Asian Film Awards in Macau, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.

He won for his role in the action film Paradox, where he plays a Hong Kong policeman looking for his abducted daughter in Bangkok.

“I’ve acted in over 100 movies for the past 20-plus years, and this is my first award!” he said in his acceptance speech.

She told investigat­ors after her arrest that she picked up the “disposal method” from a movie, but could not recall the title.
