Several snatch theft cases solved thanks to Iranian

-

KUALA LUMPUR: An Iranian caught a thief who snatched his wife’s handbag in front of a hotel along Jalan Conlay.

But that was not all the foreigner did. That citizen’s arrest helped the police solve seven other snatch theft cases here and in Ampang that occurred over the past two years.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Shaharuddin Abdullah said the suspect fell off his motorcycle shortly after snatching the 43-year-old victim’s handbag.

The incident took place at 12.40am yesterday.

“Her husband gave chase and together with several security guards and hotel staff, caught him.

“The suspect, aged 23, was handed over to us,” he said.

ACP Shaharuddin said investigations showed that the suspect would empty all the valuables before throwing the handbags into rivers or drains.

He said the man had been remanded for six days to assist in investigations under
