Home expo highlights houses under RM300k

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 600,000 homes nationwide priced from RM150,000 will be featured in the nation’s largest housing expo for the lower and middle income groups.

The “Ekspo Jualan Perumahan – Ke Arah Sejuta Impian” is organised by various federal and state housing agencies, including Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA).

PR1MA chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Mutalib Alias said over 60% of the homes would be priced at less than RM300,000.

“The balance will be between RM300,000 and RM400,000,” he said during a press conference at the Putra World Trade Centre yesterday.

Abdul Mutalib said 267,640 PR1MA units would be showcased during the expo, together with 50,030 units from Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry, 99,974 units from Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd, 51,173 units from Federal Territories Affordable Housing and 141,774 housing units under 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Programme.

“This is the biggest housing expo under one roof to provide more choices for those in the B40 (lower income) and M40 (middle income) target groups,” he said.

Abdul Mutalib said the expo would also serve as a onestop cen tre for the people to obtain information on various types of houses as lawyers and representatives from banks would be present.

On the concerns of oversupply of affordable homes, Abdul Mutalib said there was a mismatch between the type of houses that was built.

He added that there was an improvement for home buyers, who have been unable to secure bank loans.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to open the expo beginning today until April 1.

There will also be a lucky draw in which visitors will stand a chance to win two PR1MA houses, worth RM240,000 and RM288,000.

Similar expos were held in Kedah, Perak, Terengganu and Sabah.
