Malaysian wins A$40,000 before giving birth

A MALAYSIAN woman who was about to give birth at a hospital in Melbourne won A$40,000 (RM120,000) for trying her luck at a televised contest, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.

The 40-year-old from Johor Baru participat­ed in Sunrise Cash Cow out of boredom.

When she was about to go to the washroom, she received a call from the host telling her that she had won.

“I did not expect to win the prize but it happened,” she said as she held her baby named Luc Davic, who was born on March 18, during an interview at the hospital on Thursday.

> Two women were detained at the Woodlands Immigratio­n checkpoint for smuggling three air guns and plastic bullets into Singapore, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The items, categorise­d as prohibited and controlled goods, were found in the car boot when the driver, a 53-year-old Singaporea­n, was stopped at the checkpoint.

The incident came to light when the Immigratio­n and Custom bureau revealed the case on social media.

The duo are currently assisting investigat­ions.

> A 36-year-old man fell into a drain and died as he was answering the call of nature by the roadside, China Press reported.

His body was found in the drain in front of the Seri Nilam flats on Thursday at 11am.

It is believed that he broke his neck.
