Massive Golf incentive

Local enthusiasts stand a chance of experiencing the annual Austrian festival

-

A PRIZE of an all-expense paid trip for two to join thousands of Volkswagen Golf GTI fans from around the world in Austria in May is what the winner of a local contest can look forward to.

The inaugural contest is being run by Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) in conjunction with the upcoming launch of the new Golf and will have the winner embark on a trip of a lifetime to the annual Worthersee GTI Festival in Reifnitz.

This is the town that has hosted the “Worthersee Treffen” (or Worthersee as it is known in German) since 1982 – an annual gathering of GTI enthusiasts.

It’s a massive event set against an Alpine backdrop along the shores of Lake Worth in Reifnitz – a giant automobile showcase that celebrates the Golf GTI.

Initially, it began as a small gathering of GTI owners but now is a full-fledged festival of modified, classic and vintage Volkswagen cars that attracts more than 100,000 fans around the globe.

The festival will mark its 37th anniversary this May with what is expected to be another event to remember.

The Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia contest is divided into two rounds.

In the first round of the contest, participants are required to answer 10 Golf-related questions in the fastest time.

The top three qualifiers will then advance to the grand finale.

The grand finale in turn will have the three finalists battle it out in a Live Quiz showdown at the Volkswagen Tour event at 1 Utama Shopping Centre on March 31 for that all-expense paid trip for two to Austria.
