SMK Assunta celebrates Diamond Jubilee
THE “Jewel In Our Hearts” has been chosen as the tagline of the Diamond Jubilee of SMK Assunta.
The jubilee logo, which has the school logo embedded in a diamond, was designed by the school’s Parent-Teacher Association chairman Alan Goh. It symbolises the love of Assuntarians for their alma mater.
School principal Teresa Chan in her welcoming address, said the school renowned for her ethos and values has touched the hearts of countless students and moulded their spirit and emotions.
“It is indeed a historical and heritage school which Assuntarians should be proud of,” she added.
Goh thanked the school for providing holistic education. He also urged parents to continue to support the school in striving for excellence.
The school’s Alumni Association president Christina Chan shared the memories during her time as an Assuntarian. She urged all former Assuntarians to reconnect with the school by either participating in the alumni’s activities or paying their alma mater a visit as the school adopts an open door policy for all Assuntarians past and present.
The school’s foundress Datin Paduka Sister Enda Ryan officiated at the launching of the Diamond Jubilee.
During the ceremony, she spoke with pride on the number of distinguished daughters the school has produced, urging the “young Assuntarians of today” to emulate the old students who are still living by the motto of the school — Ad Veritatem Per Caritatem (To Truth Through Charity).
The ceremony closed with the school song being sung with much pride accompanied by the school symphonic band.
A series of events will be carried out throughout the year culminating with a Diamond Jubilee gala dinner to be organised by the Alumni Association on Oct 13 at Connexion@Bangsar South.
