PM: Owners of homes under PPA1M to benefit greatly
KUALA LUMPUR: Civil servants who own homes under the 1Malaysia housing project stand to benefit from it greatly as the price is expected to rise continuously, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Najib said this when outlining the benefits that would be enjoyed by about 1,230 owners of the 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Project (PPA1M) who received their keys yesterday.
The Kepong Metropolitan PPA1M project, which was launched by Najib in 2016, was developed on three hectares of land adjacent to the MRR2 Highway to help civil servants to own homes lower than the market price.
He said the Government has set a target of 200,000 units of PPA1M homes that were expected to be ready within the next few years.
Earlier, at the InvestKL Annual Ministerial Event, Najib took a swipe at Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, say- ing that Malaysia is not selling its sovereignty by attracting foreign direct investment as claimed by a “certain nonagenarian”.
He continued to take a jibe at the Pakatan Harapan manifesto, saying that its plans would spell harm for the Malaysian economy.
“(Foreign direct investment) does not mean selling your sovereignty as a certain nonagenarian might try to tell you,” Najib, who is also Finance Minister, said to an international audience during his keynote speech.
He said the diverse nature of foreign direct investments coming into Malaysia illustrates the attractiveness of the nation's ecosystem and the ability of talented Malaysians to be at the forefront of the new industries and digitalisation.
Pakatan chairman Dr Mahathir, 93, had criticised Najib for selling the nation's sovereignty to China over the surge of Chinese mega projects.
