New roof for family after 30 years

A FAMILY in Kuala Selangor, Selangor which had been living in a dilapidate­d wooden house for over 30 years finally received a proper house through the efforts of Kuala Selangor MIC chief Dr S. Kumarasamy, Makkal Osai reported.

Muniandy Muthusamy, 68, said he and his family were unable to afford a proper house.

Kumarasamy, who visited the family during the housewarmi­ng ceremony, said seven other families have received help so far to refurbish their homes and 11 more have been identified for help soon.

The man, identified as Ramasamy, said his wife Atthayi, 40, and son Palanisamy, 26, went to Nithiyanan­da’s meditation centre in Bangalore for a spiritual retreat six months ago, and have not returned since.

When he went to the centre in Bangalore to meet his wife and son, the security guards there threatened him and chased him away, he claimed in his petition.

Nithiyanan­da, who started out as a yoga guru, became embroiled in a sex-tape scandal a few years ago, and faced many controvers­ies since including trying to forcefully take over temples, allegation­s of rape, and forceful confinemen­t.
