PASIR PUTEH: The federal government has spent RM141.9mil in subsidy for over 7,000 owners of 1Malaysia People-Friendly Houses (RMR1M) in Kelantan since the housing scheme was introduced in 2002 until last February.

Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) chairman Datuk Mohamed Hasnan Che Hussin said the total cost of the houses was RM449.2mil, or about RM62,000 per unit.

However, he said, the house buyers would only be required to pay about RM40,000 or about RM270 a month, with the balance paid by the Government.

“Kelantan will receive the biggest allocation out of the 49,565 houses approved nationwide,” he said at a programme with recipients of the RMR1M houses in the Pasir Puteh parliamentary constituency here yesterday.

At the event, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister ’s Department Senator Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki presented the Subsidy Eligibility Certificate and RMR1M Work Indent to the house owners.

Also present was Pasir Puteh Umno division leader Datuk Zawawi Othman.

Meanwhile, Asyraf Wajdi said more RMR1M houses would be built in the state if Barisan Nasional was returned to power in Kelantan in GE14.

“Even now, the Government has nearly fulfilled the request by Pasir Puteh Umno for more than 1,000 RMR1M houses in the Pasir Puteh parliamentary constituency,” he said.
