Help return state to BN, S’gor folk urged
SABAK BERNAM: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged the people of Selangor to help return the state to Barisan Nasional.
He reminded them that whatever benefits they currently enjoyed came about due to the hard work of the state’s former Barisan leaders.
“Don’t ever forget the past,” he said in his speech at a meet-the-people session here yesterday.
Dr Ahmad Zahid said other groups were now reaping the benefits of Barisan’s hard work and claiming credit for it.
He likened it to Barisan planting crops that were harvested by others instead.
“We ploughed the soil, sowed the padi seeds and fertilised it. But others are harvesting it and taking credit for it,” he said.
Dr Ahmad Zahid also pointed out that Barisan had been displaced in Selangor for two terms.
“The right time has arrived for the coalition, under the leadership of Selangor Umno and Barisan chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar, to recapture the state,” he added.
He said Barisan must utilise its well-oiled machinery to regain Selangor.
The Barisan deputy chairman advised the coalition’s elected representatives not to be seasonal politicians, but leaders who served the people at all times.
Dr Ahmad Zahid also launched a symbolic groundbreaking ceremo- ny of the Sabak Bernam district education department’s new building.
Later, he handed over citizenship certificates and MyKad to several local residents.
During another meet-the-people session in Sungai Panjang, Dr Ahmad Zahid said the Sekinchan state seat must be wrested from DAP’s Ng Suee Lim.
He told MCA’s proposed candidate for the seat, 29-year-old Lee Yee Yuan, who was at the event, that he could easily get the seat because Ng had won Sekinchan with a slim majority in the last three elections.
“The seat will be yours. “Sekinchan will be yours,” he added.
