Happy Mother plan by MCA makes mums smile
PETALING JAYA: While RM200 is not a huge amount, Hoo Huy Sean believes the gift from MCA’s Happy Mother project is a blessing for her children.
The 38-year-old received the “ang pow” through the project when she gave birth in 2012 and 2014.
“I deposited the money into their bank accounts, which I opened when they were one month old,” she said, adding it would be used for her children’s education needs.
The Happy Mother programme presents RM200 to any newborn as long as one parent has been an MCA member for at least three years.
Phooi Fee Ming, 30, was a recipient under Happy Mother in 2015.
She also put the money in her son’s bank account.
“Another benefit we get to enjoy as party member is the 1MCA member group insurance.
“The party covers the premium so members enjoy the coverage at no charge,” she said.
Another Happy Mother recipient, Sammi Seah Koon Ting, said the RM200 came in handy when she became a first-time mother.
“We used it to buy diapers and essentials. It is a nice little bonus,” said the 35-year-old administrative executive, whose husband has been a party member since 1998.
Seah found the welfare programmes by MCA practical as they offer monetary assistance to those in need.
