Universities also vet applications
REFERRING to the letter “Public universities still the top choice if UPU allows it” ( The Star, March 20), the Student Admission Management Division (Bahagian Kemasukan Pelajar) under the Department of Higher Education would like to thank the writer, an International Baccalaureate (IB) Graduate, for highlighting his/her concerns.
We are mindful of this issue and would like to clarify that all information submitted by candidates, in this case the IB academic results, via the UPUOnline system, will be verified by the respective universities.
As such, all candidates are evaluated comprehensively based on the documentation submitted and not merely on the input inserted via the online forms.
This is done as a check and balance to what is submitted in the online forms and the documents which are uploaded.
We will look at improving the online forms in the future as we are aware that there are many qualifications and grading spectrums, some of which change from time to time in line with new assessment methods deployed by examination administrators.
We welcome feedback and members of the public can contact our Corporate Communications Unit by emailing Puan Rahaidah Abd Rahim at rahaidah@ mohe.gov.my
