Pakatan name list out April 25
Wan Azizah: All candidates to attend briefing with myself and Mahathir
BUKIT MERTAJAM: Pakatan Harapan is likely to name its candidates three days before Nomination Day.
PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said all candidates were asked to attend a briefing by Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and herself in Kuala Lumpur on April 25.
She said the meeting was necessary to finalise matters following the temporary disbandment of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia as ordered by the Registrar of Societies.
“We are trying to sort out the technicalities. I will sign their letters of authorisation.
“It will be a major meeting,” she told a press conference in Permatang Pauh yesterday.
Also present was DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
Lim, who is Penang Chief Minister, said the candidate list could be announced after the meeting.
On PKR assemblyman Dr Norlela Ariffin’s reluctance to contest the Kajang state seat, Dr Wan Azizah said the decision would be made by the vetting committee.
Dr Norlela, the incumbent Penanti assemblyman, was reported to have said that she wanted to defend the seat.
Lim said at another press conference later that all state executive councillors returned their official cars to the state government after the dissolution of the state assembly. The 12 cars were returned on Tuesday night, he added.
