-

ACTOR Bront Palarae will be starring alongside Japanese actor Kazuki Kitamura in a horror anthology drama series Folklore, reported Sinar Harian.

Created by HBO Asia and award-winning Singaporean filmmaker Eric Khoo, filming will be shot in Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

The cable network said each of the six episodes would be based on the country’s popular superstitions and myths.

Palarae, whose real name is Nasrul Suhaimin Saifuddin, will be starring in the episode directed by Ho Yuhang, one of Malaysia’s best-known directors.

The series is scheduled to premiere later this year on HBO Asia’s on-air, online and on-demand platforms.

> Berita Harian reported that a 63-year- old housewife’s wish to own a ruby went down the drain after she was scammed of RM40,000.

During the 1pm incident, the woman was approached by three people offering jewellery for sale at a supermarket in Bera, Pahang.

Pahang Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief Supt Mohd Wazir Mohd Yusof said the scammers asked the housewife about one “Haji Yusuf”, whom they claimed had ordered the ruby.

However, they opted to sell the ruby to the housewife instead.

“She then withdrew RM40,000 to pay for the gem,” he said.

The scammers then asked the woman to perform solat sunat syukur (prostrate in gratitude) at a mosque in Temerloh and fled with the money while she was praying, said Supt Mohd Wazir.

“She only realised it was a scam when she was done praying,” he said.
