BN aims to win more state seats in Negri

-

SEREMBAN: Barisan Nasional wants to win between five to seven more state seats in Negri Sembilan in GE14, says state Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

“Besides retaining the 22 seats Barisan had won in the last general election, we intend to win five to seven more state seats this time,” he said yesterday after attending the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of SJK (C) Ladang Ulu Kanchong here.

He added that the state seats included Chuah and Sri Bayu (previously known as Port Dickson) state seats. Both Chuah and Port Dickson were won by PKR in the last general election. There are 36 state seats in Negri Sembilan.

On another matter, Mohamad confirmed that former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad’s name is in the list of Barisan candidates to be fielded for the state.

“I am not sure whether he will be considered as a candidate for parliamentary or state seats,” he said when asked to comment on the possibility that Mohd Isa could be fielded in Port Dickson. Mohd Isa is Telok Kemang Umno division chief and the incumbent Jempol MP.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Chong Sin Woon, who was also present, said the school, which will cost RM4mil to build, will be completed in 14 months.

A total of RM2mil was allocated by the Prime Minister’s Department.
