DAP’s Su and MCA veep Lee to vie for Kampar federal seat
IPOH: MCA vice-president Datuk Lee Chee Leong and Thomas Su of the DAP will lock horns for the Kampar parliamentary seat.
Kampar incumbent MP Dr Ko Chung Sen of the DAP will contest the Kepayang state seat.
Lee, who won Kampar in 2008, lost the seat in the last general election.
The Ipoh Timor parliamentary seat won by Su in the last elections will be contested by DAP’s Wong Kah Woh, the incumbent Canning assemblyman.
The announcement of the candidates were made by DAP secretarygeneral Lim Guan Eng at Wisma Chin Woo here last night.
Perak DAP will be contesting seven parliamentary and 18 state seats in GE14.
A number of the candidates are new faces, while some incumbent state assemblymen and MPs have been moved to different constituencies.
Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming is the only one who would be contesting in the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat and Aulong state seat.
In GE13, Nga contested the Taiping parliamentary seat and Kepayang state seat. His cousin and state party adviser Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham contested in the Beruas parliamentary and Sitiawan state seats in GE12 and GE13. He will only be contesting in Beruas this time.
Six new faces would be fielded for the state seats of Canning, Tebing Tinggi, Jelapang, Menglembu. Astaka (formerly Sitiawan) and Keranji.
Incumbent Pokok Assam assemblyman Teh Kok Lim will be standing in the Taiping parliamentary seat.
Wong’s political secretary Jenny Choy will stand in Canning.
Constitution law expert Abdul Aziz Bari will vie for the Tebing Tinggi state seat, while its incumbent Ong Boon Piow will contest in Bercham.
Incumbent Aulong assemblyman Leow Thye Yih will contest in Pokok Assam.
The new faces for the state seats are Jenny Choy (Canning), Abdul Aziz Bari (Tebing Tinggi), Cheah Poh Hian (Jelapang), Steven Chaw ( Menglembu), Chang Zhemin (Keranji).
Another new candidate for Astaka is Teoh Yee Chern.
The other incumbents who will be defending their parliamentary seats are M. Kulasegaran (Ipoh Barat), and V. Sivakumar (Batu Gajah).
Those defending their state seats are Loh Sze Yee (Jalong), Howard Lee (Pasir Pinji), A. Sivasubramaniam (Buntong), Paul Yong (Tronoh), Wong May Ing (Pantai Remis), Leong Cheok Keng (Malim Nawar), Terrence Naidu (Pasir Berdamar) and A. Sivanesan (Sungkai).
