Vehicle sales pick up after Chinese New Year

VEHICLE sales in March have increased by 23.3% compared to the previous month, Sin Chew Daily quoted the Malaysian Automotive Associatio­n (MAA) as saying.

However, the March vehicle sales were 7% lower than the correspond­ing month last year.

A total of 46,152 private vehicles and 5,496 commercial vehicles were sold last month.

MAA announced that the April sales volume should be as good.

> The daily also reported that a 14yearold girl who could not take her stepfather’s sexual abuse, reported him to the police which led to his arrest.

The 61yearold man had raped her on several occasions.

According to the victim, the stepfather would rape her when her mother, sister and brother were not at their Ipoh home.

> Kpop group BTS has won six categories in the 13th Annual Soompi Awards, making it one of the biggest winners as a group, China Press reported.

The winners were announced by Kpop site Soompi.com and BTS had also won Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year award, Song of the Year, Best Collaborat­ion awards, Best Choreograp­hy award and Fuse Music Video of the Year.

Meanwhile, BTS member V, (Kim Taehyung) also grabbed the Best Idol Actor award for his outstandin­g performanc­e in Hwarang, making it seven awards in total.

The winners were voted by fans from 190 countries. A total of 160 million votes were submitted.
